I know you’re here to enquire tips on how to stop comparing yourself to others. First let me use myself as an instance, if I try to compare myself with Donald trump that entails I want to be a better president of America. But here comes the question, Is that God’s goal in my life? Will I be happy at the end?
This is the main reason why some people even after becoming great still see themselves unfulfilled. Hey you! yes you reading this wonderful blog now, I’m talking to you! if there is anyone you’ve to compete with that person is you, not anyone else. No one deserve your competition but you. You are shortchanging yourself by competing instead of dominating. God never instruct you to compete but dominate.
It’s wrong for a man to assume competing with is fellow man is the best option instead of dominating
How can i dominate?
First you need to be the best version of yourself not just having a skill before you can dominate. 2nd Samuel 2:18 says “Now Asahel was as fleet-footed as a wild gazelle, (verse 19) he chased Abner turning neither to the right nor to the left as he pursued him” in the following verse we get to know that Abner told Asahel you’ve great talent but no wisdom, i have a sword you don’t have yet you followed me so fast without turning right or left without considering if i turned my back and kill you with my sword.
Talent is not enough get backup. Allow people work for you, build trust in people, improve yourself if you want to do well in life. When you have a job you get salary but when you have a gift you get fees (income). Some people are meant to be better in class while some in the real world. First find your gift and the fees come after. Your job gives you salary but your gift give you wealth.
How to build yourself into something great
What changed me to who I am today was a story of a cookie lady, yes a cookie lady don’t be surprised and i want to share a little bit of the story with you.
Story! story!
There live a woman who was humbled by her background because they had nothing to rely on for wealth or money sake. She had a job that makes her live from hand to mouth. Her job was to do the nanny stuff of a thing, then fortunately for her she got sacked. Yeah i meant fortunately, you will get to know why i said so.
She was sacked and all she could do with her last cheque she got in the company was to visit a promising pastor of hers. When she narrated her story to the pastor, he laughed hysterically, she was not happy with the pastor attitude so she reacted by saying “why will a man of God laugh at me instead of encouraging me” . The pastor responded “are you done” yes i am done she responded. And the interaction went like this.
pastor: you’re sacked, isn’t it
woman: yes sir, and I have done only my last cheque with me and my two kids. How do we survive pastor?
pastor: [pastor laughed and said] sometimes ago woman, you gave me some cookies which i do love and i appreciate every bit of it.
woman: yes sir
pastor: do you have an oven?
woman: yes sir
pastor: what do you do with it
woman: I do make use of it every Sunday to bake some cookies
pastor: only on Sunday, the oven spend 7 days in your house and you use it only on Sunday! what happened to the other 6 days? it’s useless, i mean totally useless! he said emphatically
woman: sir………..
pastor: do you have baking flour and some sugar at home
woman: yes pastor
pastor: okay, take the little pay cheque you’ve and go to the market and get the other cookies essentials that will make it taste so great that people will like it, same as I do. Ensure you share it to families, friends, co-workers working in your company and many as you can give for free.
woman: all my last pay cheque and for free?
pastor: yes, do it if you want to be successful.
The next day after the cookie lady went to the market and get all the things necessary to make a better recipe, she called the pastor again to confirm if she should proceed.
woman: hello sir, I’m going to the company I was sacked with the cookies you asked me to make.
pastor: go woman and give all the attendant, staff, client and anyone possible you can share to
The woman went, and on getting there the people there where surprised seeing her again trying to share them a cookie after being sacked from the same company, ignoring all the looks; she went ahead and share them her specially made cookie and they do love it. They ask her to bring them more next time she is coming again. she was so wise to ask them for a prepayment and they did accept and pay on delivery and many orders started coming from different people, referrals and so on.
In a nutshell, this was how the lady became prosperous and god enlarge her coat. in return she gave a good tithing to the lord and she was able to cater for the needs of hundreds of workers working under all. if this can happen to her it can happen better with you i believe with the grace of God you will not shortchange yourself with what you’re seeing presently. God will make you great. AMEN
