God create man, man can’t create God, so it’s absolutely foolish to hear man above God. For God know the thought of man and everything in him but man only knows what God want man to know about Him. It’s therefore wrong to follow the thought God design in your mind for what man design for you.
Who are you honoring God or man
You must have heard of a quote that says ” if you don’t plan for your life, other people will plan for you”. There was a tie my mum and I had a wonderful conversation where I gained and accrued a new learning that have helped me till this moment. The conversation started when, I saw my mum angry face due to a quiz she has earlier partake on. She said ” she could have won if only they gave more chance to win bonus answer” the discussion was so long that we started talking about the church. The church was one of the well known publicize church in town, who failed to realize the reason why God has blessed them with such growth.
The church had great numbers of member coming to church which is amazing, but has time goes, the teacher and followers started watering their fault for the world to see. The leaders were busy pushing out followers out due to their pride and loose tongue. They’re easily annoyed, provoke by words coming out from members of the church who didn’t respect them. It was so obvious that if you come to church for the first time you’ll notice. Always shortchanging themselves by thinking about the bad things around and not taking a glance at the good things around them also. Until when they started honoring God and what he tell s them in His word, their words were considered as trash to the world.
The 3 reasons to honor God are;
1. It is a command that we must obey
In Ten Commandments, the first three deals with honor to God.
God says, ‘you shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers’ (Ex 20:5). It is only He who you must bow down to not any graven image or idol.
Phil 2:10: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker (Psalms 95:6).
Proverbs 3:9: Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the first fruits of all your increase.
2. To receive what we ask God
Wrong ways of honoring God makes us not to receive what we ask in prayers.
See this from Apostle Peter when asking God to resurrect Tabitha. He knew the right way to do it.
But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up (Act: 9:40).
When Jesus was praying to His father, He was always honoring Him by bowing down. Luke 22:41: And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed.
To receive what you ask for, honor God; acknowledge his dominion and authority.
3. For spirit to come above the body and soul
Physically bringing down the body to honor God also brings the souls down too.
When the body is down, the soul comes down too and the spirit is lifted above the body and the soul to meet with God (God is spirit). You will never experience intimacy with God when the body or soul is above the spirit
